Terms and conditions

  1. This Raffle is being promoted by Robert Ferguson on behalf of The Real World Conservation Trust, Charity Registration Number 1177505, Lower Farm, Happisburgh, Norwich, NR12 0QQ.

  2. The Society is operating a Small Society Lottery under the Gambling Act 2005. Its registration is SSL014 issued by North Norfolk District Council.

  3. By entering the draw/s, participants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions and Rules.

  4. The draw opens for entries on Friday 21st June 2019 and closes for entries at 2359 on Sunday 17th November 2019.

  5. To enter the draw a ticket (or tickets) must be purchased from this website or offline via a sales person.

  6. The winner and two runners-up of the draw will be chosen at random from all entries received by the Closing Date.

  7. There are 3 prizes (the Prizes) available to be won in the draw:

    1. First prize: Luxury Safari for two people - see full outline and conditions below.

    2. 2 Runners Up prizes: Signed copies of "Painted Wolves: A Wild Dogs Life" by Nick Dyer and Peter Blinston

  8. Where relevant, the Prizes will be delivered to an address specified by the winner on the UK mainland or specified address.

  9. No cash alternative is available.

  10. Prizes are strictly non-transferable.
  11. The winner of the 1st prize agrees to participate in reasonable publicity required by the promoter - photo, short quote, short review of trip).
  12. Your chances of winning are variable, depending on how many tickets are sold for the raffle as a whole. Your winning odds are the number of tickets you have purchased divided by the total number of tickets in the draw.

  13. The game is open to all UK residents who are aged 18 (eighteen) or over on the date of ticket purchase, (except for trustees/employees of the society).

  14. Any person found to be under 18 (eighteen) years of age on the date of ticket purchase automatically forfeits the right to the Prize.

  15. You must be 18 (eighteen) or over to play or claim a prize. We may conduct random checks of entrants to ensure there are no underage players. Random checks are conducted using AgeChecked (or similar service from a third party supplier as and when stipulated). If a person enters the game stating that they are over the age of 18 (eighteen) and subsequently it is found that they are less than 18 (eighteen) years of age, they will have any money paid in relation to the draw/s returned to them and where relevant will automatically forfeit the right to any prize.

  16. The winner may need to provide proof of age before collecting the prize. Acceptable documentation of the winner’s proof of age will be a scan of their passport or driving license.

  17. When you purchase a ticket for the draw/s a unique ticket number will be issued and displayed onscreen at the point of purchase. Confirmation of your ticket number/s will also be emailed to the address supplied during the ticket purchasing process.

  18. Tickets to enter the draw/s are priced at £5 each or can be bought individually or in ticket bundles from this website or offline and individuals are limited to a total spend of £100.

  19. All draw entry sales are final. Refunds are at the sole discretion of the Society and will be payable only where the Society deems it reasonable, having regard for all the circumstances. All participants acknowledge that their payment of the ticket price does not guarantee that they will win any Prize.

  20. Full payment for each ticket must be received in cleared funds before the ticket can be entered into the draw/s. Only tickets for which full payment has been received are eligible to win the Prize/s.

  21. Payment for tickets can be made by debit/credit card only online. They can be made by cash or credit/debit card to a sales representative.

  22. Winners of the Raffle Prizes will be contacted by the Society within five working days of the draw/s taking place. Details of the winners will also be posted on the Website.

  23. All participants are solely responsible for providing and (where necessary) updating the Society with their accurate and up-to-date contact details and the Society will be in no way liable for any failure or inability to contact any participant due to any errors, omissions or inaccuracies in the contact details that the participant has provided.

  24. The Society shall not be liable to any participant for any loss or damage suffered or arising from:

    1. any delays or failures in the delivery methods used by the Society or the participant;

    2. any delays or failures in any software or other systems used by the Society for the administration of the draw/s;

    3. any delays or failures in the banking system used by the Society or the participant;

    4. any refusal by the Society to accept an individual’s entry or the cancellation of an entry;

    5. any event beyond the reasonable control of the Society.

  25. To the extent permitted by law, the Society excludes any liability for loss or damage incurred by any winner of a Prize in connection with or arising from the use of the Prize or participation in the draw.

  26. The Society is committed to protecting the privacy of participants. Personal information that is collected from participants is used lawfully in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998. In providing your information to the Society, you consent to the Society using your information to process your entry and contacting you will further information about its work and sharing names and e-mail contact details with Real Africa for marketing and for purposes of fulfilling the Prize and publishing winners’ names on the Website.   27. The Society reserves the right to:

    1. disqualify or decline to accept the entry of any participant if it has reasonable grounds to believe the participant has breached any of these terms or otherwise acted fraudulently;

    2. terminate or suspend the draw for reasons beyond its reasonable control

  28. In the event of any dispute regarding the draw, if the dispute cannot be resolved by the parties, it will be referred to an independent third party.

  29. This draw is a form of gambling. Participants are encouraged to gamble responsibly. Please read our Social Responsibility Policy or visit the GamCare website (http://www.gamcare.org.uk) for more information on Problem Gambling.

  30. The Laws of England and Wales shall govern the interpretation and/or enforcement of these Rules. The Society and all participants hereby submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.

Terms & Conditions - First Prize.

The first prize is a 5 night luxury conservation safari to Kenya for two people travelling together (worth approximately £8,000) consisting of:

· Return economy flights from London Heathrow to Nairobi with British Airways in O or N Class (subject to availability). Any cabin/flight upgrades at winners' own expense.

· Meet & greet at Joma Kenyatta International. Transfer and overnight on a Bed & Breakfast twin/double share basis at Ololo Lodge, Nairobi National Park

· 4WD road transfer to Ol Pejeta Conservancy in Laikipia for a 2 night safari stay at Ol Pejeta Cottages on a full board twin/double share basis and including a visit to the anti-poaching K9 unit. The K9 visit is subject to availability - alternative conservation visit will be offered if K9 visit not possible for any reason (e.g, chimp sanctuary, northern white rhinos).

· 4WD road transfer to Meru National Park for 2 night safari stay at Elsa's Kopje on full board twin/double share basis.

· Transfer from Meru to Nairobi Wilson airport by light aircraft for free time in Karen. (Lunch and shopping at Tin Roof Café/shops and optional excursion to AFEW Giraffe centre are at winners’ own expense and time permitting).

· Transfer to The Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for foster parent visit with the elephants at 5pm.

· Transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for flight home.

 

Includes: International economy class flights from London UK; 5 nights twin/double share accommodation in Kenya as specified, conservancy fees, transfers as specified, morning and afternoon game drives at Ol Pejeta and in Meru National Park, Sheldrick Trust visit as specified.

Excludes: Drinks, tips, additional optional activities and excursions, meals not specified, visa fees, vaccinations, medical/travel insurance, any items of a personal nature (shopping, laundry etc).

 

The safari prize must be booked with our partner Real Africa by 27 December 2019 and at least 8 weeks prior to travel.

 

Travel is permitted in 2020 as follows and must include a Saturday night stay in Kenya: 21 January  - 30 June or 1-30 November excluding holidays/high season periods.

Booking is strictly subject to availability.

Guests must travel together throughout.

All arrangements for complete duration of stay must be booked by our partner Real Africa - www.realafrica.co.uk

Extensions to the safari prize itinerary are permitted but must be made with Real Africa at time of booking and are at winners' own expense, subject to validity of airfare.  

All additional nights on the ground in Kenya must be booked/paid for with Real Africa.

If the international flight element of the prize is not required (for example if the winners live outside the UK and do not wish to fly ex London Heathrow) they are still permitted to make their own way to Nairobi to use the 5 night ground element of the prize according to the validity given.

Once the safari is confirmed no further alterations are permitted.

 

Please note: to take this safari prize winners will need to successfully apply for a visitor visa to Kenya ($50 US - own expense) and provide details of their travel insurance.
